Unlocking your winning mindset at a young age: a first-hand perspective

I don’t know about you, but every time I dive down the wormhole of my Instagram feed, I stumble across all these successful people, with their expensive cars and seemingly perfect lifestyles. I wonder to myself how they got there. Is it all real, or is everything just an illusion to make them feel good about themselves? The truth is that the majority of those people have made sacrifices that enabled them to reach that level of success.

I know you’re thinking to yourself “Yeah sure, but I’ve made plenty of sacrifices and they haven’t brought me anywhere!”

You might have a point, but I have another one for you to consider. Sacrifice is much more than giving up partying, time, and money to accomplish your goals. Sacrifice requires a total makeover of your mindset. You need to realize that success requires an ultra-focused, positive and resilient mind, capable of finding practical solutions to even the most complex of problems.

If you are, for example, working on a side-hustle that will serve you as an extra source of income, you need to be as open-minded as possible. Your planning, brainstorming, streamlining, and implementation need to be in sync for you to stand any chance of making it work. All too often, the knowledge of those who are more successful than you is neglected, because most of us consider ourselves geniuses. This, though, is far from true. You need to grab every opportunity you get to pick someone’s brain who has already made a success of their lives, both financially and mentally. These people often have valuable insights that you can use to make your journey to the top as bearable as possible.

My personal experience

From a very young age, I began to realize that I wanted more than an average lifestyle. I always watched my parents ridicule over our family’s finances and the thought of just barely making it through every month when I’m all grown made me realize that I needed to put every ounce of my existence into building a financially stable and successful life.

You might ask me at this stage: “It’s easy to say it, but where do you even start working on your dreams??”

I got your answer right here: Self-believe

Self-believe is one of the things that took me A LOT of time to acquire. As a young kid, I never truly believed in myself, whether it was in the classroom or on the sports field. To this very day, I still look back to those days and wish that I would’ve done more things that would’ve taken me outside of my comfort zone. I wish that I didn’t allow self-doubt to overwhelm me when I really needed to show some guts.

However, as they say, it’s never too late to make a change.

Today, I am a firm believer in hard work, dedication, confidence, and most importantly, passion. If you really want to be successful, you have to LOVE what you do. To give you some perspective, I’d like to use my fitness journey as an example.

After I finished high school, I realized that I needed something to take my mind of all of the negativity that, at that stage, was eating away at every piece of my existence. I joined a local gym at age 18, and today I’m on the road to competing in my first bodybuilding show. I’ve developed an unrivaled love for hitting the iron week after week, month after month, year after year. The gym is my utopia. When I’m busy training, I’m in another world. My mind is free from all of the social media bullshit, negative people, and overall craziness of the world. Most of all though, I do it, because I LOVE IT.

The same goes for every other aspect of life, whether it be a relationship or a business partnership. You HAVE to truly love it. If you can’t find passion in what you’re currently doing, stop wasting your time and try something else. You’ll never experience real happiness until you wake up every morning to live out your true passion in life.

Some final remarks that might inspire you

Stop caring about what society thinks you should do and DO WANT YOU WANT TO DO. You can’t expect other people to support your dreams, because it isn’t theirs in the first place, it’s YOURS AND YOURS only. Go out there and do something that fills your soul with unrivaled passion, something that makes you want to wake up every morning with a smile on your face and joy in your heart.

I’d like to conclude with one of my favorite quotes by Elon Musk:

“Make a choice to take a chance, or your life will never change.”
